During summer 2022, photographer Victor Matussière followed Simon Franck, his childhood friend, to Ukraine in order to capture the daily life of Ukrainians in wartime with a positive angle. What was supposed to be a short stay between Kyiv and Mykolaiv finally turned into a long trip from Lviv to Irpin, Chernihiv and Odessa. A dozen of photos and three films came out from it : A series of photos taken in the west of the country in the village of the Leo States association for displaced families from Donbas and occupied areas. But also faces, dancers, bombarded cities and a report with the repair together association made up of young Ukrainians helping the local populations to clean and rebuild houses destroyed by the bombardments in the Tchernihiv region.
